šŸ„‡ I was theĀ top studentĀ in tort law at AUT and received 98.5% in my final law exam thanks to my incredibly comprehensive law school exam notes notes.

Ā

My tort law notes reference an extensive number of cases, textbooks and articles.

Ā

These tort law exam notes focus solely on the negligence law. The following sub-topics within the tort of negligence are covered:

  • The Standard of Care (Ordinary Standard, Special Skills/Professional, Standard at Time, Learners, Children, Dangerous Goods, Mental Health Conditions)
  • The Duty of Care (Omissions, Public Authorities, Vicarious Liability, Negligent Misstatement, Economic Loss, Defective Buildings)
  • Causation in Fact (Supervening causes - Novus Actus Interveniens)
  • Remoteness/Legal Causation
  • Defences (Contributory Negligence, Volenti non fit injuria and Ex turpi causa)
  • ACC Law (Mental Injury, Exemplary Damages, Secondary Victims and What's Covered)

šŸ—’ Why these notes are incredible

One of the hardest things about studying law is understanding the bigger picture of a topic.

Ā

During my studies I spent countless hours researching how to learn, retain and structure information. I was also a lecturer in Communication Studies and a magazine editor, so I already knew a lot about designing information. Eventually I cracked the code and made the most easy-to-understand, beautiful, well-structured law school exam notes that Iā€™ve ever seen.Ā

Ā

I repeated my notes formula throughout my degree. It worked well ā€“ really well. I was the top of 13 papers at law school and the top-graduating student in my cohort. Almost every single grade I received was an A+. And I managed to do all this while not being a study hermit. Throughout my degree I always worked (sometimes full-time) and I also had a baby.

Ā

Of course, my success isnā€™t all due to my notes. But my law school exam notes definitely improved my grades a lot, especially my exam grades. There were a few subjects that I didnā€™t make notes for, and in those subjects I received my worst grades (which was like an A-, but still).

Ā

āļø I guarantee that my notes will be useful for you and will help you:

  • Understand the big picture of your paper;
  • Make it easy for you to reference cases in your exam, even ones that you havenā€™t read; and
  • Give you great, succinct summaries on key textbooks and cases.

Ā

šŸ—“ These notes were created in 2019 while I was studying at AUT. Although I cannot guarantee that they are an up-to-date account of the law, the cases and principles covered are all still relevant. Some of these concepts are thousands of years old and will not have changed dramatically in the past few years. However, the notes may be missing a few cases and potential developments made post 2019.

Ā

šŸ‘©šŸ¼ā€šŸ’¼ These notes are not intended to be legal advice and I (Julie Schmidt and Julie Schmidt Law) accept no responsibility for any action taken in reliance on these notes. (Thank you torts and contract for teaching me how to write disclaimers!)

Ā

šŸ“ Once you put your payment through either PayPal or Stripe (which are both super secure), you will be provided with a Microsoft Word document to download. I give them to you in Word so that you can edit them and make them your own. I believe the notes are most effective if you use them as a base template for creating your own notes, as I always learned a lot through the note-making process.Ā
