š” Land Law Exam Notes (Top Student)
š„ I was theĀ top studentĀ in land law at AUT thanks to my incredibly comprehensive, 9-page land law exam notes.
My land law exam notes reference an extensive number of cases, textbooks and articles.
Ā
They cover:
- Mortgage law
- Lease law
- Covenants law
- Easements
- Profits a Prende
- Overcoming a Torrens indefeasible title
- Titles Being Limited as to Parcels and as to Title
- Caveats and Unregistered Interests
- Adverse Possession
- Fraud
- Manifest Injustice
- Roads (Including Paper Roads)
- Landlocked Land
- Cross Leases
- Unit Titles
- Building Schemes
- Co-Ownership
š Why these notes are incredible
One of the hardest things about law school in NZ is understanding the bigger picture of a topic.
Ā
During my studies, I spent countless hours researching how to learn, retain and structure information. I was also a lecturer in Communication Studies and a magazine editor, so I already knew a lot about designing information. Eventually I cracked the code and made the most easy-to-understand, beautiful, well-structured law school exam notes that Iāve ever seen.Ā
Ā
I repeated my notes formula throughout my degree. It worked well ā really well. I was the top of 13 papers at law school and the top-graduating student in my cohort. Almost every single grade I received was an A+. And I managed to do all this while not being a study hermit. Throughout my degree I always worked (sometimes full-time) and I also had a baby.

Ā
Of course, my success isnāt all due to my law school exam notes. But my notes definitely improved my grades a lot, especially my law exam grades. There were a few subjects that I didnāt make notes for, and in those subjects I received my worst grades (which was like an A-, but still).
Ā
āļø I guarantee that my law school exam notes will be useful for you and will help you:
- Understand the big picture of your paper;
- Make it easy for you to reference cases in your exam, even ones that you havenāt read; and
- Give you great, succinct summaries on key textbooks and cases.
Ā
š These notes were created in 2019 while I was studying at AUT. However, the section regarding manifest injustice was updated in 2024. Although I cannot guarantee that the notes in total are an up-to-date account of the law, the cases and principles covered are all still relevant. Some of these concepts are thousands of years old and will not have changed dramatically in the past few years. However, the notes may be missing a few cases and potential developments made post 2019.

I give it to you in Word so that you can edit it and make it your own. I believe the land law NZ exam notes are most effective if you use them as a base template for creating your own notes, as I always learned a lot through the note-making process.Ā
